May Flowers - VSN

Happy Sunday! Today I have a card I made quite some time ago, but I have been waiting to post it because it is my sample for the VSN Mini challenge I am hosting over at SCS. My challenge is to pop up a flower on your card.

To make my card, I stamped the daffodils, from Sending Sunshine, with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics. I started with Y17.

Blended out from the Y17, with Y21. Then I filled in with Y000.

For the foliage, I colored with YG03, then used YG93 to shade.

I used an oval Nestabilies die to trace an oval lightly with pencil. Then I hand cut the oval, cutting carefully around the flowers where they extended past the oval.

After cutting, I sponged lightly with Memento Desert Sand ink.

I colored another flower image and cut out just the flowers, adhering them with Pop Dots to the first image.

To get the scallop edge on one side of my Creamy Caramel cardstock layer, I first cut the layer just narrower than my scallop square Nestabilities. Then I placed one side under an edge of the die and ran it through my bug.

I layered my oval with Pure Luxury Lovely Lavender. First, I had intended to have the lavender layer be scalloped, but I decided on a narrower frame, so I took the scalloped oval and ran it through the bug again, this time, placed in a plain oval. I wound up with that nifty scallop frame leftover, so I decided to incorporate it into the design.

My cardbase is 4.25 inches square and cut from Pure Luxury Sweet Corn cardstock.

Don't forget about my sketch challenge at STV. I'm working on putting together my tip sheet for Gone Fishing and hope to have that posted soon. I have cutting tips again, so if you get your set before I've posted my tip sheet and want those cutting tips, just let me know and I'll get those photos up asap.

Thank you for visiting. I hope you have a very happy day!

Theresa - this is beautiful. I love the technique of leaving part of the image outside the cut circle/oval/etc. Very nice effect. And I like the way you've offset the circle from the scallop frame from which it "could" have come.
